YLDP Update Winter 2024-25
YLDP Update: Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders
At Compass for Kids, we’re committed to equipping young leaders with the skills and confidence they need to shape their futures. The Youth Leadership Development Program (YLDP) continues to make a lasting impact, helping middle and high school students build leadership skills, explore career opportunities, and develop strong connections with mentors and peers. Here’s what we’ve been up to this past quarter!
Engaging Workshops, Interactive Learning, and Inspiring Guest Speakers
YLDP students have been busy with interactive workshops designed to strengthen their leadership abilities. From public speaking sessions to team-building exercises, our participants are growing more confident in their ability to communicate, collaborate, and take initiative in their communities.
We would like to thank our Enrichment Partners for sharing their time with the YLDP youth this quarter: Alexa Brown – Wellness Wheel, Michelle Griebler – Illinois workNet Center, Tia Mahr – Financial Literacy/ Entrepreneurship, Zaxxson Nation – Improvisation, Becky Gabany – Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion, Yai Moore – Mindfulness & Yoga “A Moment with Yai”.
In addition to the guest speakers, the YLDPers hopped in the Compass vans and headed out into the community for a couple of field trips. Included in their adventures were visits to Wild Rose Artisans Gallery & Boutique, Motherland Gardens, and Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum & Library.
Looking Ahead
The next quarter promises even more exciting opportunities, including community service projects, leadership lessons, inspiring field trips, and additional mentorship connections. We’re so proud of the dedication and enthusiasm the youth bring to the program, and we can’t wait to see their continued growth!
Thank You for Your Support!
YLDP wouldn’t be possible without our dedicated volunteers, mentors, community partners, and supporters. Your contributions help us provide transformational experiences that empower the next generation of leaders. Stay tuned for more updates, and visit YLDP to learn how you can support our mission!
