YLDP

The goal of the Youth Leadership Development Program is to provide the opportunity to develop as leaders, graduate from high school, and be prepared for college, vocational / trade school, the military, and/or to enter the workforce. The ultimate goal is for these youth to be ready to achieve their dreams.

The Compass for Kids vans were put to great use in March as our YLDP youth went on a series of engaging field trips designed to support their personal growth and leadership goals. What better way to explore your passions and find inspiration than by visiting impactful sites throughout the community?

Field Trips

Capital Area Career Center offered the YLDPers a chance to look into a variety of technical and innovative educational options. Capital Area Career Center believes:

  • Career and technical education is the first step toward workforce readiness.
  • All students should have the opportunity to explore their own paths guided by experienced staff, business partners, and community organizations so they achieve their potential.
  • It is important to demonstrate appropriate personal, interpersonal, and professional skills and behaviors.
  • Engage students in skills-based, hands-on training utilizing today’s technology.
  • Provide an inclusive environment for all students and staff.

The youth were able to get out in the field with O’Shea Builders as they toured the Scheel’s Sports Park construction site. No better way to be inspired than to see it in action.

Community Service Learning Program

The YLDP Community Service Learning Program had the youth back out sharing their time and skills with Girls Glory and supplying food to the local breadline.

Back at the YLDP site, the youth are preparing their presentations for their non-profit business model. With the help of Tia Mahr, the YLDPers are growing their knowledge of business development & pitching their project.

Teen Outreach Program

Our YLDP Counselor, Olivia, has been guiding the youth through the Teen Outreach Program (TOP), recently introducing them to the fundamentals of interviewing. It’s been a great opportunity for them to build confidence and develop real-world communication skills!

Enrichment

Breathe in. Breathe out. Thank you to Yai Moore for sharing Mindfulness & Yoga – “A Moment with Yai” with the youth!

As the school year winds down, we’re filled with pride and excitement watching our youth leaders grow. From building confidence to developing essential life skills, these kids continue to amaze us with their resilience, leadership, and heart. We can’t wait to see all they’ll accomplish next! 💛🌟
