Club Compass Updates – April 2026
April at Club Compass: A Month Full of Learning, Adventure, and Community
As we head into the final days of Club Compass, we’re taking a moment to look back on a fun April filled with interactive learning, informative field trips, and visits from our wonderful community and enrichment providers.
Throughout the month, kids explored history and their community through field trips to the Vachel Lindsay Home, the Lincoln Home National Historic Site, and activities from the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum that brought learning to life. Students also enjoyed a fun, groovy field trip to Dance Creations Dance Studio!
We were also joined by many incredible community partners who shared their time, talents, and expertise with our students:
- Barbara Eggemeyer led a First Aid presentation
- Zachary Gutenkauf taught kids about healthy hand washing habits
- Adventures of Neo hosted storytime
- Autumn’s Exotic Animals introduced students to fascinating animals
- Music Therapy Connections brought interactive music experiences to Club
- Erica Austin encouraged students through a positive affirmation “Glow” activity
- Clocktower Community Bank shared financial literacy lessons
- BJ Grand Salon & Spa hosted a fun hair and nails activity
- St. John’s College of Nursing students showed the kids how to properly wash their hands, brush their teeth, and identify and get rid of lice
- Pawsitive Therapy Dogs brought smiles and comfort to our kids
- Tia Mahr from Girl Scouts connected kindness lessons through activities
- Alexandra Webb, a student from UIS, shared a Physical Education activity
- The Cole Project visited McClernand and Dubois sites to celebrate April birthdays
- Michelle Feurer from Springfield Clinic taught the kids about germ prevention and healthy hygiene habits
We are looking forward to celebrating the end of the school year with special parties at each Club Compass site and making even more memories together before summer begins. And while we wrap up another wonderful Club Compass season, excitement is already building for Camp Compass – coming soon! 💙
