Dream Maker, Denise Perry

“It was truly eye opening for me during recipe development when I was told that some families may not have refrigeration in their homes.”

Meet our latest Compass for Kids DREAM MAKER…Chef Denise Perry from Copper Pot Cooking Studio!

WHY ARE YOU INVOLVED WITH COMPASS? Being a part of the community has always been a really important part of who I am. I first got involved when my friend, Katie Berg, told me there was a need for meals at Blackhawk. My kids and I came weekly and made a meal on Wednesdays for a year.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT BEING INVOLVED WITH COMPASS FOR KIDS? I was able to have students come cook with me when I volunteered at the Blackhawk site and sharing my love of the kitchen was always a great experience.

WHAT EVENTS HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED WITH? I was a site volunteer for one year at Blackhawk, provided cooking videos for Camp Compass, attended fundraisers and donated gift cards for raffles.

TELL US ABOUT THE UPCOMING COOKING EVENT! It was truly eye opening for me during recipe development when I was told that some families may not have refrigeration in their homes. I really wanted to develop tasty, fun, and easy snacks to make and when I saw some of the pictures, I think it was a success! The s’more pops seemed to be a hit with all, so I am grateful to be able to share the experience that the Compass campers had over the summer with supporters of the Compass vision.
